DHAKA: Stressing the need for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Planning today recommended taking necessary measures by the ministry for not appointing any individual official as project director to more than one project.
In its 33rd meeting, the committee also recommended beefing up monitoring of the ministry on the overall development activities, said a media release.
The meeting also suggested the ministry to play more responsible role to establish good governance, increase the quality of education and face climate change impacts for achieving the SGDs.
Committee chairman Abul Kalam Azad presided over the meeting which was attended by state minister for finance and planning MA Mannan, Major (retd.) Rafiqul Islam, Bir Uttam, Md Abdul Hai, Samshul Haq Chowdhury and Begum Nilufar Zafar Ullah.
Planning commission member senior secretary Shamsul Alam made a power point presentation on the different plans taken by the government for implementation of SDGs.
